It will be interesting, though, to see how the new engine performs on a heavier 150hp-rated fibreglass boat. Low maintenance: Evinrude’s E-TEC engines don’t require dealer maintenance for 300 hours or three years, which means you can spend more time on the water and less time paying for and waiting on. Put it back together, threw a rubbermaid tub full of water. Backflushed the motor thru the thermostat housings and overboard indicator when the lower unit was off, water ran right thru. Replaced the water pump, thermostats and starboard temp sensor. The motor got hot on the starboard side last time out. At low revs it feels like a smaller engine, but get the revs up into its peak performance band and the 150hp output feels responsive and muscular. Got a 1992 Evinrude 175 v6 on the pontoon. The 150hp Evinrude E-TEC G2 outboard engine is a stellar performer when paired with our alloy Stacer test boat.
